Plaza Suite
By Neil Simon
April 1-3 & 8-10, 2011
Director: Terry DiMurro
Synopsis: Hilarity abounds in this portrait of three couples
successively occupying a suite at the Plaza. A suburban couple take the
suite while their house is being painted and it turns out to be the one
in which they honeymooned years before. This wry tale of marriage in
tatters is followed by the exploits of a Hollywood producer who, after
three marriages, is looking for fresh fields. He calls a childhood
sweetheart, now a suburban housewife, for a little sexual diversion. The
last couple is a mother and father fighting about the best way to get
their daughter out of the bathroom and down to the ballroom where guests
await her. We are looking for candidates to direct one or more of the
three acts in this play, and a candidate to be the overall coordinator
between directors of the acts. |

It's a Wonderful Life
December 2-4, 9-11, 2011
**SCRIPT CHANGE - The Playmakers were unable to secure the rights to produce Miracle
on 34th Street. We will therefore produce It's a Wonderful Life
instead.
Director: Kathy Bleutge Written by James Rodgers, Based
upon the film by Frank Capra and the story by Phillip Stern.
Synopsis: This is the heart-warming story of George Bailey, the Everyman
from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and
adventure have been repeatedly squashed by notions of family obligation
and civic duty. It is Christmas Eve, and George's guardian angel,
Clarence, descends to save him from despair, and to remind him (by
showing him what the world would be like had he never been born) that
his has been, after all, a wonderful life... This sparkling and magical
play has all of your favorite characters: George and Mary, Clarence,
Mother Bailey, Uncle Billy, Violet, Bert, Ernie, and of course the
Scrooge-like character, Mr. Potter, plus many more. It's a Wonderful
Life not only celebrates the Season, it also celebrates the American
philosophy of life: that hard work, fair play, and the love and support
of family and community will be rewarded. There are roles for 12 men, 10
women, and several boys and girls ages six and up, plus carolers and
townspeople. |
