In preparation for auditions for “42nd Street,” the Sterling Playmakers is hosting a dance workshop on Saturday, April 8 from 2-3 p.m. The event is designed for those looking forward to our big summer musical, but might be less confident about trying out for a dance-heavy show. This workshop is open to all. Bring your own dance shoes if available.
The dance workshop is being hosted by East Coast Edge Performing Arts Center at 44190 Waxpool Road #147 in Ashburn.
In addition to the workshop, choreographer Colleen Cheney will be auditioning dance captains from 3 to 4 p.m. If you’re interested in being in the show ensemble while helping to teach and rehearse the dance numbers, this could be a great opportunity to showcase your skills.
Please RSVP for both the dance workshop and the dance captain auditions to email@example.com.
Actual audition dates for “42nd Street” will be May 4-5 from 7 to 9 p.m. and May 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Cascades Senior Center. Auditions will consist of cold readings, songs from the show and a dance audition. Roles are available for those ages 14 and up, but a children’s chorus will also be included with auditions in late May. Participation in the April dance workshop is completely optional to audition.
“42nd Street” will perform July 28-30, August 4-6 and August 11-13. It is produced by Gioia Albi and Kimberly Fry and directed by John Geddie. Colin Taylor is providing musical direction.
Check this website and the Playmakers Facebook page for audition materials and more details in the next few weeks.
